Question by : Spinal Fusion surgery…advice for pain 15 months later?…?
15 months ago I had spinal fusion in my low back between L4-L5, I had 4 screws placed and an artificial disk. I was only 19 at the time, I am now 20…Ever since I had the surgery I have been in more pain than when I had it. I don’t feel like I am healing at all. I have been suffering in agonizing pain all this time, I cannot do anything but lay around the house, I can’t even sit through a movie or dinner…
I went to physical therapy 4 months out of surgery…but stopped because it was too painful and I later on lost my health insurance.
I am wondering if anyone has dealt with what I am going through?… I feel I really messed up my life, I cannot do things a normal 20 year old could do…
Does anyone know any websites that can show me excercises to strengthen my back? I have tried everything…a TENS unit, creams, pills, injections, ice pack, heating pad, hot baths, walking, massages, everything…I cannot bend still..I feel so crippled and hopeless..
The only thing that gets me to sleep is either crying myself to sleep, taking more than prescribed Valium and norco as well as unisom, and putting capzasin on my back and a heating pad so it ll burn the pain away…
If anyone knows anything…please tell me…I can’t deal with this much longer … :’(

Did you get health insurance again? If not, contact your state and look into their affordable health plans for residents of the state.
Seek out a board certified orthopedic surgeon and/or neurologist to get a second opinion.
Have you tried acupuncture? A lot of people get relief from it. Also, try to find a pain doctor who does Botox. Botox is being used a lot lately in the treatment of different types of pain. Don’t go to a plastic surgeon for it – you need to find a doctor you treats pain.
Good luck and don’t give up trying to find relief from this. Back pain is no joke.
